Production and Operations Consultant - The Perelman Center, NYC

Full Time from April 2019-Jan 2024.

Built from the ground up and housing a newly created performing arts organization, the PAC NYC building serves as the cultural center of the World Trade Center site in Lower Manhattan. The scope of this agreement included consulting on production requirements as they relate to the design and construction processes, acting as the key production voice on behalf of Ownership during construction, and advising on production and operations processes/budgeting for the new arts organization that occupies and operates the space now that construction is complete.

This annual Town Hall event is presented live to an audience at New York City Center and is broadcast internationally to 35 countries. As Producer, this agreement covers the hiring and management of all design (theatrical, content and media) and the procurement and management of all production elements necessary for this 2-day event.


Technical Producer - Broadway Concert Series - DGF: Toasts

April 2018

This project was the inaugural performance of a new concert series created to benefit the Dramatists Guild Foundation, honoring great Broadway composers. Performed at Broadway’s Hudson Theatre, this premier event honored composer Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Godspell, Pippin). Scope included event production, technical management and the coordination of design team and union crews.


Director of Production - Lincoln Center Festival

2016-2018

Created as the flagship of Lincoln Center’s Programming, under the leadership of Nigel Redden, Lincoln Center Festival was an annual International Festival of audacious, large-format, multidisciplinary performances using Lincoln Center’s venues. Festival 2017 featured 46 performances by 20 artists/groups in Dance, Theater, Film and Music. Highlights included Jewels, which featured 50th anniversary performances of Balanchine’s choreography by The Bolshoi Ballet, Paris Opera Ballet and New York City Ballet and a multi-night/multi-genre tribute to Ornette Coleman.  

As a member of Festival’s 4-person executive producing team, the Director of Production was responsible for the hiring and management of ~125 seasonal designers/production staff and ~200 union stagehands as well as negotiating complex Labor CBA and direct oversight of ~$6m in annual budget.  Also included was the long-term development, iterative budgeting and project management required to move ideas from pre-conception to performance.


Director of Production - The New 42nd Street Inc./New Victory Theater

2001-2016

Created by the City and State of New York in 1983 to enliven the blighted blocks of 42nd Street in Times Square, New 42 is the landlord of (7) historic theaters.  As part of its work, New 42 operates the New 42nd Street Studios, the Duke on 42nd Street, and the Drama Desk Award-winning New Victory Theater.  The Director of Production was the Senior member of staff with oversight over all production activities and labor negotiations in the Studios, Duke and New Victory, the management of an 8-person production team and a 20+ union technical team, and the delivery of multiple seasons of international performance presentations. Also included in the role was the origination, development and project management of +$17m in City-funded capital construction projects.

New Victory highlights included the origination and management of theater festivals focused on works from France, Holland, Scotland and Denmark and the US premieres of Cirque Eloize’s Rain, Kneehigh’s Rapunzel and Complicite’s Lionboy.

Whitney Museum of American Art (new building)     

2014-2015

Procurement, Production Consulting and Theater Management

This contract, initiated by WMAA Owner’s Reps Gardiner and Theobald and managed directly by WMAA, covered multiple scope areas.  The bulk of the contract covered the procurement, delivery and installation of $1.2m of owner-supplied gallery lighting, $500k of owner-supplied Theatrical lighting and the initial fit out of both the theater and film auditoriums.  During construction and build out, the contract was expanded into providing interim Theater Management, specifically intended to manage the auditoriums during commissioning, and the design of Repertory Lighting Plots in both the Theater and Film auditoriums.

Originally created at the Citizens Theatre in Glasgow, this work has appeared at Glasgow Citizens, Dramaten Stockholm, A.C.T. San Francisco and Manchester Library Theatre.


Technical Manager - Citizens Theatre, Glasgow           

1997- 2001                             

Located in the heart of the Gorbals in Glasgow, the Citizens Theatre produces highly designed new works and classics from the Western European theatrical canon.  Working in (3) venues and on tour, all of the technical requirements associated with producing and presenting full seasons, along with the commissioning of a £3m theatre renovation, fell under the purview of the Technical Manager.

Highlights from the Citizens Theatre include a millennium production of Noel Coward’s Cavalcade and a full production of Don Carlos at the Edinburgh International Festival.

This work, under the jurisdiction of IATSE Local One, was performed entirely at NBC’s National headquarters, 30 Rockefeller Center, in New York City.  Work was done in all 30 Rock studios including:
